Tone & Texture - necklace
the black rubber cord helps to offset these highly detailed hollow beads making a very graphic statement. each bead is bubbled and etched using baking soda. the baking soda releases air when it is heated creating air pockets where it is trapped beneath thin layers of clear glass or bursting and etching the surface where it is not.
the smallest bead’s hole is slightly smaller than the others so you can slide it along to group all the beads together or leave it higher to offset the groupings.
i love the endless world of bubbles and textures in ice and glass can mimic this beautifully. bringing in a bit of colour and a bit of texture these minimal pieces means that each bit of glass brings with it its own little world waiting to be discovered.
